Kanpur Test: Second day's play canceled due to rain, not a single ball could be bowled

Kanpur, 28 September (HS). The second day's play of the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur has been canceled due to rain. On the second day on Saturday, not a single ball could be bowled. The grounds were covered with covers since morning.

The opening day's play was also affected by rain, due to which only 35 overs could be bowled on the first day. By the end of the first day's play, Bangladesh had scored 107 runs for 3 wickets in their first innings. Mominul Haq was playing on 40 and Mushfiqur Rahim was playing on 6 runs.

Right arm fast bowler Akash Deep took two wickets for the Indian team after winning the toss and came to bowl first. He dismissed Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan (0) and Shadman Islam (24), reducing Bangladesh's score to 2 for 29 runs. After this, there was a 51-run partnership between captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto and Mominul Haq, which was broken by Ravichandran Ashwin. The experienced off-spinner dismissed Shanto for 31 runs. After this, Mominul and Mushfiqur Rahim took Bangladesh's innings to the score of 100. Play was stopped after the 35th over due to bad light and then rain came. After this the first day's play was declared over.

The hosts are leading the two-match Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs. The Indian team currently tops the World Test Championship points table. After the series against Bangladesh, New Zealand will come to India for a three-Test tour.
