Getting treatment in India is becoming expensive, the cost of medical services is increasing by 14 percent.

New Delhi ACKO India Health Insurance, an Indian health sector company, has recently released its report. In this report of ACKO India Health Insurance Index 2024, it has been said that the cost of healthcare in the country is increasing by about 14 percent on an annual basis.

Based on this report, it has been revealed that getting treatment in the country now can prove to be expensive for your pocket, because the cost of healthcare is becoming expensive every year. An increase has also been seen in the inflation rate related to this sector. This report states that, “Healthcare related inflation in India has been recorded at 14 percent. The report also states that 23 percent of hospital expenses in the country are financed through borrowing, which puts a lot of pressure on the financial condition of families.

ACKO India Health Insurance has also paid special attention to major diseases. The country's capital Delhi has emerged as the kidney disease capital of India, accounting for the highest share of health insurance claims related to kidney health, the report said. The report also states that after the capital, the highest number of health insurance claims for kidney disease were made from Kochi. Delhi NCR had the highest share of claims related to kidney health. “The share of claims in Kochi, Secunderabad, Bengaluru and Jaipur was higher than the national average.”

The report also states that the average age of patients claiming kidney and kidney problems is 47 years, indicating a significant health concern. Notably, the largest bill as per the index for kidney-related problems last year was Rs 24,73,894, indicating the financial burden associated with these health conditions. Apart from kidney health, the report also highlights other serious health issues including heart disease. The report said the highest number of claims for cardiovascular diseases are seen in Kolkata and Mumbai, which have seen a significant increase in the number of hospitalizations for cardiovascular diseases between the age group of 31 to 50 years. “Kolkata and Mumbai top the list of metros in terms of circulatory system disorders like heart attack,” the report said.
