Your iPhone 15 Pro Will Need This Much Storage To Run Apple Intelligence: Know More

Apple is all set to roll out its standout feature, the Apple Intelligence with the upcoming Ios 18.1 version for the compatible iPhone models soon.

The Apple AI update includes enhanced photo search capabilities, a more intuitive Siri, improved writing tools and creative innovations like Image Playground and Genmoji. Ahead of its release, the tech giant, in the latest iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 update, revealed how much storage space these features will require in your device.

The on-device storage required to access the new Apple intelligence (AI) features showcased earlier this year is detailed in the company’s support documentation for the recently published iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5. It stated, “Apple Intelligence is available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, and iPad and Mac models with M1 and later. iPhone devices need 4GB of storage.”

This means that if a user wants to access the Apple AI features on their compatible devices, they need a storage space of at least 4GB. However, this should not affect those users who own a compatible iPhone model with high capacity, iPhone owners who own the base 128GB variant might find themselves running out of storage.

Notably, the document only mentions the Apple Intelligence requirements for the iPhones and no other device that will receive the major upgrade. This indicates that the company might set some different requirement criteria for the Macs and iPads. Furthermore, the Cupertino-based tech giant also stated that the on-device storage requirements for Apple Intelligence would increase as new features will be added in the future.

Apple Intelligence Update: What To Expect

Other key features of Apple Intelligence include an improved Photos App, Notification summaries, Priority Messages in Mail, Smart replies and more.

The update is coming to the US as part of the iOS 18.1 update next month. However, it is expected to be released in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, South Africa and the UK later this year.

But countries like India, France, Japan, Spain, Singapore, and Vietnam will only get the Apple AI update next year. The update will initially support only the English language, but later be available in other languages as well.
