BCCI announces squad for three T20Is against Bangladesh, Mayank Yadav included

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Mayank Yadav, the speedster, has been selected while Varun Chakaravarthy has been recalled after the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021. Sanju Samson has been retained but there was no place for Ishan Kishan.

Mayank impressed everyone with his pace in IPL 2024. Although he played just four games for Lucknow Super Giants, the pacer troubled big names.

Jitesh Sharma was preferred over Ishan as the selection committee decided to rest Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel.

The selectors ignored Yuzvendra Chahal for the series. He was part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 winning team but was dropped for the white-ball matches against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Varun was impressive for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 as he took 21 wickets.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav will not have a deputy as Shubman Gill has been rested to keep him fit for the three-Test series against New Zealand. Abhishek Sharma is back after getting dropped for tour of Sri Lanka.

Team India’s squad for three T20Is against Bangladesh:

Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav
