“In a historic move to celebrate consistency and outstanding performances in the IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakh per game for our cricketers,” Shah posted on Twitter on Saturday evening. Cricketers who play all the league matches in a season will get an additional Rs 1.05 crore over and above their contracted amount.” He said, “Each franchise will allocate Rs 12.60 crore as match fees for the season. This is a new era for the IPL and our players.”
This decision of BCCI is being considered important for those uncapped players who are bought at base price and are able to earn very less money in a season compared to other contracted players. This decision also means that the purse amount of the teams for the upcoming season can also increase. It is noteworthy that the mega auction for the upcoming season of IPL can be held in the month of November or December in which each franchise will have the option to retain five players.
