Rakul Preet Singh DITCHES interview when asked about father-in-law Vashu Bhagnani

New Delhi: Vashu Bhagnani has been in deep waters after various allegations of non-payment of dues. While attending the IIFA Awards 2024, Rakul Preet Singh, Vashu’s daughter-in-law, stormed out of an interview after being asked about his allegations. Here is what happened.

During the IIFA Awards 2024 green carpet, Rakul Preet Singh was caught off-guard when she faced a question about Vashu Bhagnani.

In a clip floating online, a reporter asked Rakul, “There are a lot of reports in the media about Vashu sir, and a lot of people have said that…” Before the journalist had a chance to complete his question, Rakul Preet Singh said, “Sorry,” and walked off mid-interview.

What are the allegations against Vashu Bhagnani?

Well, Vashu Bhagnani has produced various hit films such as Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, What did you love?and Biwi No 1, among many others. However, Vashu Bhagnani and his production house, Pooja Entertainment, have been facing several allegations of large unpaid dues to crew members.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a statement that claimed that Vashu Bhagnani owes over Rs 65 lakh to crew members from Mission Raniganj, Ganpath and Bad Miyan Chote Miyan. Another complaint from film director Ali Abbas Zafar revealed that Vashu has yet to pay his fee of Rs 7.5 crore for directing Bad Miyan Chote Miyan. The federations also claimed that Ganpath’s director Vikas Bahl is yet to be paid his fee of Rs 2.5 crore.

In a recent interview with The Economic TimesVashu Bhagnani claimed that the OOT streaming giant Netflix ‘cheated him’ out of Rs 43.37 crore. However, the platform immediately debunked the accusations and released a statement. The statement called Vashu’s claims ‘completely unfounded’. In fact, Netflix claimed that Vashu himself owed money to the streaming platform.

Amid such serious and messy allegations, it seems that Rakul Preet Singh found it best to stay out of the matter altogether.
