According to experts, 'International Translation Day' is celebrated every year on 30 September to commemorate the death anniversary of St. Jerome. Saint Jerome was a translator of the Bible, also known as the patron saint of translators.

International Translation Day was started in the year 1991 by the International Federation of Translators (FIT) to show solidarity of the translation community around the world. FIT was established in the year 1953. In 1991, FIT began celebrating International Translation Day to recognize and honor the translation community throughout the world.
