DC Released And Retained Players 2025: Delhi Capitals is one of the eight teams to debut in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League 2008. DC is one of the few teams who still awaits to lift their maiden title in the Indian Premier League.
With the return of Rishabh Pant last season, DC was expected to execute an outstanding performance but failed abruptly and ended up in the sixth spot in the points table.
With a mega auction for the 2025 season, DC will rebuild their squad with much more caution than before to gain a positive move in their upcoming seasons.
Though the exact date for the IPL 2025 mega auction has not yet been revealed, the event is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London.
DC Released And Retained Players 2025 (Probable)
As per the report, the deadline for teams to announce their retention is expected to be around November 15. The teams should announce their players’ retention as per the new IPL 2025 retention rules released by BCCI.
With seven victories in the last season, DC failed to advance to the playoffs round. Delhi Capitals’ best came out in the 2020 edition when they ended up as runner-up of the season.
As a first step of the preparation, Delhi Capitals removed Ricky Ponting as their head coach and confirmed to retain Rishabh Pant ahead of the auction.
According to the IPL committee rules, each franchise can have 25 players in their squad, out of which a maximum of 8 can be foreign players. In Playing 11, each team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players in the mix.

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur is their secondary home venue however they haven’t played any matches there since 2016.

The 2025 mega auction is expected to be held in the 3rd or 4th week of November 2024 in UAE or London. The 2025 mega auction will be a more than-a-day event, unlike the mini auctions which will be hosted in a day.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, BCCI increases the purse value of each team by INR 20 crores over the existing purse value of about INR 100 crores.
The final purse value of the team will be decided right after they submit the retained and released players list for the event. Delhi Capitals Purse Value Before Auction will be 120 Crore without announcing retention and releasing players list.
