Madhavrao Scindia was born on 10 March 1945 in Mumbai. Mother Vijayaraje Scindia was already in politics. He was married to Madhavi Raje Scindia on 8 May 1966. Madhavrao Scindia was almost crowned twice. Political experts say that during the Churhat lottery scandal in 1989, Arjun Singh was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and there was a lot of pressure on him to resign. Then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi wanted Madhavrao Scindia to be made the Chief Minister, but Arjun Singh did not resign. Due to which Arjun Singh also had to face the displeasure of Rajiv Gandhi.

In 1992, the Sunderlal Patwa government of Madhya Pradesh was dismissed due to the demolition of Babri Masjid. After that elections were held in Madhya Pradesh in 1993. Congress registered a big victory in this election. At that time Congress had got 174 seats out of 320. When the discussion started on who should be made the Chief Minister, there was a lot of discussion on the names of three people. It included Shyama Charan Shukla, Madhavrao Scindia, Subhash Yadav.

Madhavrao Scindia won the Lok Sabha elections for the first time at the age of 26 and with this his winning streak started. In the elections held after the Emergency in 1977, Madhavrao Scindia again won from Guna. In this election, he presented his claim as an independent candidate and was also successful. But in the 80s, he inclined towards Congress and also took membership of Congress.

The most interesting fight took place in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections. Senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee contested elections from Gwalior. In such a situation, Congress threw the dice in the name of Madhavrao Scindia at the last moment and made him its candidate from Gwalior. Madhavrao Scindia won this election also and got a gift for it. Madhavrao Scindia, who has held many ministerial posts, was given the responsibility of Railway Ministry for the first time.
