Spotify users were unable to access their playlist or listen to new songs for over 3 hours in the US on Sunday. The platform is back up and running now but a long outage in one of its biggest markets is not a good read for the company that is looking to increase its paid subscriber base to rival Apple Music in the region.
According to Downdetector.com, the Spotify outage affected over 40,000 users during the time which is massive for any tech company to tackle and fix at the earliest.
The three-hour outage means Spotify users will not be able to stream new content or even access their playlist. The only available content was the recently played music, and even that had some issues during this period.
Outages like these are not surprising and all companies face issues with their back end services every now and then. But it is vital that the platform looks into the issues that caused the down time and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
