South Korea’s Cho Myung-woo, ranked 5th in the world, has beaten Vietnam’s Tran Thanh Luc, ranked 21st, to claim the title at the Three-Cushion World Championship held in central Vietnam.

In the Sunday final match in Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province, the 26-year-old Korean secured his victory with a score of 50-23, earning a prize of 40,000 euros (US$44,600).

Before reaching the finals, Luc, 37, had a surprising victory over world number one Dick Jaspers, defeating him 50-32. The Vietnamese representative received 20,000 euros as the runner-up, while Belgian player Eddy Merckx and Dutch player Dick Jaspers shared the third place, taking home 12,000 euros each.

The tournament was organized by the World Billiards Union (UMB), Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, and Binh Thuan, attracting 48 top players from 26 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Belgium, and Spain. Vietnam was represented by seven competitors.

This is the first time Vietnam has been selected as the venue of the Three-Cushion World Championship.
