51 runs off 18 balls: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal script new world record

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed the fastest team fifty in the history of Test cricket. The two added 51 runs in just 18 balls in Team India’s first innings in the second and final Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Rohit was dismissed after scoring 23 runs off 11 balls, laced with 3 sixes and a four.

His batting partner Yashasvi was unbeaten on 63 runs off 39 balls, with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal completed his fifty in 31 balls, the fastest by an Indian opener in Test cricket. Overall, it is the third fastest, with Rishabh Pant leading the tally.

Earlier, Mominul Haque scored a century for Bangladesh as the visitors posted 233 in their first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akash Deep added two scalps each to their bowling figures.

Ravindra Jadeja completes 300 Test wickets

Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket and completed 300 scalps in the longest format of the game.

India are leading the series 1-0, having won the Chennai Test by 280 runs.
