New guidelines will be issued for OTT content, obscenity will be banned

New Delhi. New guidelines will be issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting regarding films and series shown on OTT (Over the Top) platform. On these new guidelines, instructions will be given to depict obscene language and abusive language through alternative mediums. At present, obscene scenes are shown on OTT without any restriction, this new guideline can be issued only in this regard.

Guidelines are being prepared in consultation with companies, individuals and other stakeholders associated with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It is being made in such a way that some legal sections related to women are not violated. Issuing the rules will ensure that the story is expressed through films without any violation. The guidelines will not impose any restrictions on content. These guidelines will be kept in mind during film production.
These could be major changes in the guidelines
If reports are to be believed, these guidelines will include instructions to beep during abuse and blur obscene scenes. It is believed that the scene of abuse is mandatory during the dialogue, so there can be talk of distorting those words. There may be instructions to explore other alternatives to scenes involving changing clothes or intimate relationship scenes.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will keep an eye on OTT content and platforms. The Ministry may also require that manufacturers add such people to their team who can coin alternative words. Producers will have to submit affidavits to the Censor Board and the Ministry on OTT series.
