RG Kar case: Accused Sanjay Roy speaks in court for first time | What he said

Kolkata: RG Kar hospital case rape and murder accused Sanjay Roy on Tuesday claimed that he was innocent and had nothing to do with the incident. He was presented in the court in Kolkata today. The CBI submitted a chargesheet against him in the case on Monday.

Appearing in court for the first time since his arrest, Roy said, “I have something to say. If I don’t be allowed to speak, all blame will be put on me. I have not done anything. I am innocent. I don’t know anything about the case.” However, the judge pointed out that this was not the way to speak in court. He then asked him to speak to his lawyer who, who will meet him in jail and present his case during the hearing.

Next hearing on November 4

“Surely you will get a chance to speak. It is not possible to say this way at the moment. But you have a lawyer, he will go to jail and talk to you. You will tell him everything,” the judge told him. The next hearing of the case will be heard on November 4 after the Durga Puja vacation. The charges are likely to be framed against him on the same day. The entire trial process will be conducted on camera. The court will hear the case four to five days a week.

50 senior doctors of RG Kar Hospital resign

Meanwhile, close to 50 senior doctors of RG Kar hospital resigned in support of resident doctors, who are on fast unto death since October 5, demanding justice for the rape and murder victim. Shortly after the development, doctors from other medical colleges in the state said they too could resign in support of fasting doctors. On August 9, a junior doctor was allegedly raped and murdered in Kolkata, leading to massive protests across the city and the rest of the country. The accused Rai was arrested in subsequent days.
