SAMSUNG reigns supreme, overtakes Apple to become festive sale number 1 with 20% market share

Obnews Tech Desk: In the first phase of festive season sales, Samsung has topped the smartphone segment with 20 percent market share. According to semiconductor information forum Tech Insights, users bought smartphones on a large scale during the sale held between September 26 and October 6, with more than 1 million iPhones sold. This festive sale once again proved Samsung's dominance in the Indian smartphone market. Tech Insights said in its blog, “In the first phase of the festive sale, Samsung strengthened its hold by leading smartphone sales with 20 percent market share, while Apple remained in second place with 16 percent share.”

One of the main reasons for Samsung's success was that it was the main sponsor of the festive sale of Flipkart and Amazon. These e-commerce giants provided various types of discounts and incentives to customers, thereby providing an additional boost to Samsung products. According to Tech Insights, online platforms accounted for 78 percent of total smartphone sales during this period. Offline sales also picked up during Navratri, leading to an increase in overall smartphone sales.

Apple had 16 percent market share in this year's festive sale.

Tech Insights described Apple's second position in this year's festive sale with 16 percent market share as quite surprising. Especially the popularity of iPhone 15 and iPhone 13 models kept Apple's sales strong. The new features of iPhone 15 and discounts on iPhone 13 attracted consumers in large numbers, giving the company an edge.

Apart from Samsung and Apple, these companies are also included in this list

Apart from Samsung and Apple, Oppo Group (Oppo and OnePlus), Xiaomi and Realme were also among the top five smartphone selling companies this festive season. The joint strategy of Oppo and OnePlus, budget-friendly offerings of Xiaomi and innovation of Realme have earned these companies a place in this list. Tech Insights says offline sales also remained good during Navratri and it is expected to further increase sales through both online and offline channels by the end of the festive season.
