Man United Eyeing Thomas Tuchel As Next Manager

Man United Eyeing Thomas Tuchel As Next Manager: Manchester United is reportedly eyeing former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel to replace the current man in charge, Erik Ten Hag.

United have had a dismal start to the 2024-25 season. In the seven Premier League matches so far, the team only has eight points and sits 14th on the table. The team also lost to Liverpool and Tottenham by a scoreline of 3-0, while also losing to Crystal Palace 2-1.

Even in Europe, the Red Devils are having a poor start. In the UEFA Europa League, they have drawn both their matches so far. First, they drew 1-1 with Eredivisie side Twente, and then drew 3-3 to Portuguese giants Porto, only equalising in that second game in stoppage time.

Ten Hag was appointed as the United manager in 2022. And almost since his first season, he has been under fire. The 2023–24 season was historically bad for the side. While in the Champions League, they were eliminated in the Group Stage. The Manchester-based club finished eighth in the Premier League, their lowest league ranking in over 35 years. They only qualified for the Europa League in the first place due to winning the FA Cup.

It was previously reported that the Dutch manager’s job was on the line during United’s most recent match against Aston Villa and that a loss there would get him sacked. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, so Ten Hag has kept his job for now.

Man United Eyeing Thomas Tuchel As Next Manager

It has now been reported by the Manchester Evening News that Manchester United officials are holding a meeting in London on Thursday, October 10. Erik Ten Hag’s future will be up for discussion in that meeting, along with a discussion over the possible replacement.

One of the names that have emerged to be in the running is Thomas Tuchel. The German manager has formerly managed clubs like PSG, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich. Known for his tough drills and strict demeanour, he turned around a dismal Chelsea side and won the 2021 UCL title.

It is understood that Tuchel had a meeting with United co-owner Sir Jim Radcliffe over the summer when the club was pondering over sacking Ten Hag. But those talks came to an end when the Red Devils won the FA Cup and the Dutchman kept his job.
