Hugh Grant ensnares two young missionaries with a wickedly religious game

The Heretic production house A24 has dropped another trailer for its horror-thriller, starring Hugh Grant, Chloe East, and Sophie Thatcher. Chloe and Sophie play missionaries who happen to visit Hugh’s house to talk to him about the teachings of Jesus Christ. However, as the two young women want to go out, Hugh’s character gives them an option to choose between two doors: one that says belief and the other disbelief. The choice between faith and doubt seems to set up the film’s central conflict, potentially exploring the consequences of both in the guise of a psychological thriller with horror elements.

Heretic adds to a list of recent titles starring Hugh Grant in negative roles. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have written and directed the film for A24. The duo are known as the screenwriters of John Krasinski’s thriller A Quiet Placeas well as the writer-directors of the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeymanthe Adam Driver starrer dinosaur film 65and the 2019 horror film Haunt.

Heretic is slated for a November 8 release.

Hugh Grant’s upcoming films also include Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.
