Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's party PTI had organized a massive protest in the capital Islamabad last weekend. During this period, many incidents of violence and vandalism also took place. Now a report has claimed that PTI supporters have caused damage to public and private property worth about Rs 24 crore during the protests. This claim has been made in the report submitted by the Office of the Inspector General of Islamabad to the Commissioner of Islamabad.

PTI protested against these demands

It is noteworthy that Imran Khan's party had organized this protest demanding independence of the judiciary after the government introduced the constitutional amendment. Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi for the last one year. PTI supporters also demanded the release of Imran Khan from jail during the protest. PTI organized the protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad, the same place where PTI had staged a 126-day sit-in in the federal capital in 2014.

The report told where the damage occurred

The report said that during the PTI protests, protesters damaged 441 city cameras worth Rs 14 crore. Apart from this, 10 police vehicles, 31 motorcycles and 51 gas masks were also destroyed. According to media reports, the protesters also damaged three private vehicles and a crane. One policeman died and 31 were injured during these protests.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said Imran Khan's party will not be allowed to repeat the 2014 strike that led to the cancellation of the Chinese President's visit. Due to PTI protests, life came to a standstill in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from Friday to Sunday. In fact, the police had sealed both the cities with containers to stop the protesters. There was also a widespread ban on the Internet. Similar situation prevailed in Lahore since Saturday.
