Sri Lanka: 20 Chinese citizens arrested for involvement in cyber crime, were living without valid visa.

Sri Lanka : More than 20 Chinese nationals were arrested on suspicion of involvement in cyber crime in Gorakana suburb, a suburb near Colombo. According to reports, police said on Wednesday that all of them were living without valid visas. The age of all these citizens of China is between 22 to 49 years.

These people were arrested from a hotel located in Gorakana area of ​​Panadura suburb, south of Colombo. Police raided the hotel and seized five laptops, 437 mobile phones including two iPhones, 17 routers and other items. According to the police, all these materials are suspected to be related to possible financial fraud.

Investigation into the matter will continue to ascertain whether this Chinese group is linked to another Chinese group carrying out cyber online scams in Sri Lanka, whose members were arrested from Hanwella area.
