CM Yogi will be engrossed in special rituals and worship from Thursday to Saturday

  • Mahanisha Puja will be held in Gorakshpeeth on Thursday, Chief Minister will perform Kanya Puja on Friday.

Gorakhpur: The ceremonial programs continuing from the Pratipada of Shardiya Navratri at Gorakshpeeth, the penance place of Shivavatar Guru Gorakhnath, will move towards more specialness from Thursday. From Thursday, Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will remain engrossed in rituals and worship for three continuous days. On the evening of Ashtami (Thursday), he will participate in the traditional Nisha Puja of Gorakshpeeth, while on Friday, on Navami Tithi, he will perform the ritual of Kanya Puja. After the completion of Navratri, on the day of Dussehra, after doing special worship of Guru Gorakshanath, Gorakshpeethadhishwar will lead the Vijayadashami procession coming out of the Gorakhnath temple.

On the Pratipada of Shardiya Navratri, Gorakshpeethadhishwar had installed the Kalash in the Shaktipeeth of Gorakhnath temple. Subsequent regular Navratri puja rituals are being performed by Yogi Kamal Nath, the head priest of Gorakhnath temple, as his representative. From the date of Ashtami till Vijayadashami, Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath himself will be present for worship and ritualistic programs. Gorakshpeethadhishwar will perform Mahanisha puja and havan as per the rituals on the Ashtami Tithi of Navratri on Thursday (10th October) and pray for the welfare of the people. The ritual of Kanya Puja will be held at Gorakshpeeth on Friday (October 11) from 11 am as a symbol of reverence and respect for the mother power. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will carry forward the tradition of Gorakshpeeth towards mother power by worshiping girls. Gorakshpeethadhishwar will wash the feet of nine virgin girls in the form of Durga, apply tilak of roli, sandalwood, curd and akshat on their forehead and worship them as per the rituals. After serving food with full devotion, giving dakshina and gifts, we will also take their blessings. During this time, Batuk puja will also be performed as per tradition. Whereas on Saturday (October 12), after the special worship of Guru Gorakshanath and Tilakotsav of Gorakshpeethadhishwar, a grand procession of Vijayadashami will be taken out in the evening.

Vijayadashami procession is the special attraction of Gorakhpur's festive tradition.

On the day of Dussehra, the Vijayadashami procession, which starts from the Gorakhnath temple under the leadership of Gorakshpeethadhishwar, is a special attraction of the festive tradition of Gorakhpur. A great example of social harmony can be seen in this procession. Not only do people from every section of the society participate in this procession, it is also given a grand welcome by the people of the minority community (Muslim and weaving community). Choudhary Kaifulvara, the outgoing chairman of Uttar Pradesh Urdu Academy, who has been welcoming the Vijayadashami procession for three generations, says that on the day of Dussehra, the entire city waits for the Vijayadashami procession of Gorakhnath temple, but the most enthusiasm is seen among those from the minority community. Kaifulvara says that at a short distance from the main gate of the temple, we stand with flower garlands hours in advance to welcome Gorakshpeethadhishwar. This time too, preparations are being made to give a grand welcome to the procession. In fact, when the convoy of Gorakshpeethadhishwar stops to welcome the minority community, the picture of social harmony is spectacular.

Vijayadashami procession of Gorakshpeethadhishwar will start with pomp

According to the tradition of Gorakshpeeth, this year also on the day of Vijayadashami, the procession of Gorakshpeethadhishwar will be taken out with great pomp from Gorakhnath temple on Saturday evening. Peetadhishwar will board his vehicle after taking the blessings of Guru Gorakshanath. The procession of Gorakshpeethadhishwar will reach Mansarovar Temple amidst the sounds of trumpets, drums and band instruments. After reaching here, Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath will offer worship to Devadhidev Mahadev at the Manasarovar temple associated with Gorakshpeeth. After this his procession will reach Mansarovar Ramlila Maidan. He will perform the coronation of Lord Shri Ram in the ongoing Ramlila here. Along with this, Aarti will also be performed after worshiping Lord Shri Ram, Mata Janaki, Laxman and Hanumanji. Not only this, Gorakshpeethadhishwar will also bless the devotees in the traditional Tilakotsav program to be held in Gorakhnath temple on the day of Vijayadashami. On the evening of Vijayadashami, a traditional feast will also be organized in the Gorakhnath temple in which a large number of people from all communities, irrespective of rich-poor and caste-religion, participate.

Saints' court will be held, Gorakshpeethadhishwar will be in the role of magistrate

The day of Vijayadashami in Gorakshpeeth is special in another sense also. On this day, a court of saints is held here and Gorakshpeethadhishwar acts as a magistrate. According to the tradition of Nathpanth, every year on the occasion of Vijayadashami, the disputes of saints are resolved by Peethadhishwar in Gorakhnath temple. Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath is also the President of All India Avadhoot Bhesh Barah Panth Yogi Mahasabha, the top organization of Nathpanth. In this post he acts as a magistrate. Patra Puja program is organized on Vijayadashami in Gorakhnath temple. In this, Gorakshpeethadhishwar resolves the disputes among the saints. Before resolving the disputes, the saints worship Yogi Adityanath in the form of Patra Dev. No one lies in a hearing before the eligible deity. Patra Pooja Saint is also known for discipline in the society.
