Several decomposed body parts were discovered at an abandoned karaoke parlor in the southern Binh Duong Province, the site of a fire that claimed 32 lives in 2022, police said Wednesday.

Officers from Thuan An City reported finding a heavily decomposed human head and arm on the first floor of the An Phu karaoke parlor. A torso was later found in the building’s basement. Authorities suspect homicide and have launched an investigation.

On Tuesday, Nguyen Van Tu, 30, visited the abandoned parlor with a relative to film an exploration video. Tu, who intended to post the footage on social media, ventured inside the building alone. While exploring the parking area, he stumbled upon a decomposed hand near a trash bin and a human head floating in a water hole. Shocked, Tu fled the scene without notifying local authorities.

It was not until Wednesday morning that Tu reported the discovery to police in An Phu Ward after regaining his composure.

The An Phu karaoke parlor was the site of a tragic fire on Sept. 6, 2022, which broke out while about 60 people were inside. Firefighters recovered 32 bodies, and 17 others were injured in the blaze.

Authorities have since charged the parlor’s owner, as well as several former firefighting police officers and a company director, for violations of fire safety regulations. Another firefighting officer faces charges of negligence leading to serious consequences.
