MSP will increase on many Rabi crops, Union Cabinet approves, know how much will be the benefit?

New Delhi: Many important decisions were taken in the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. In the meeting, the government has given festive gifts to the farmers across the country. The central government has increased the MSP (minimum support price) of Rabi crops. The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase the minimum support price of 3 other crops along with mustard and wheat, the main crops of Rabi season. There has been an increase of Rs 300 per quintal on mustard crop and Rs 150 per quintal on wheat.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the new MSP of mustard has now become Rs 5950 per quintal. Apart from this, the MSP of wheat has also been increased by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 2425. This decision will benefit many farmers across the country and their economic condition will improve.

New rate of gram, lentils and safflower

Apart from these, MSP of gram, lentil and safflower crops has also increased. The rate of gram has increased by Rs 250, while the rate of lentils has increased by Rs 275. Now the rate of gram has increased from Rs 5440 per quintal to Rs 5650. Also, the new rate of lentils has become Rs 6700, which was earlier Rs 6425. At the same time, the rate of safflower has increased by Rs 140, whose new price has become Rs 5,940 per quintal. This decision of the government will provide economic benefits to farmers across the country. With this, the anger of people angry with the government regarding crop rates will also reduce.

Hope from protesting farmers

During this, Ashnani Vaishnav also mentioned the farmers protesting on the Haryana-Punjab border. He said that the government has taken many decisions in the interest of farmers. Our government is committed to the welfare of farmers. Apart from this, Vaishnav said that we hope that farmers will take appropriate decisions in view of the decisions of the cabinet.

What is MSP?

Minimum Support Price which is called Minimum Support Price in Hindi. Simply put, this is the price that is fixed by the government for the crops of the farmers. At this price the crop is purchased at government purchasing centres. Its main objective is to provide protection to farmers from fluctuations in crop prices. When crop prices fall in the market, MSP provides a stable income to farmers, thereby saving them from economic crisis.
