Android Automotive, eSIM feature will be used in KTM's upcoming bike

Delhi Delhi: KTM has announced that it is bringing Android Automotive technology to two-wheelers with internal combustion engine (ICE) for the first time. Android Automotive technology has been available in cars till now, but KTM claims that it will be the first manufacturer to introduce this technology. Android Automotive will also support eSIM – another first for an ICE bike as this connectivity option is currently available in electric bikes.

Let's take a look at the details of the Android Automotive technology offered by KTM:

What is Android Automotive?

Android Automotive is an open-source operating system (AAOS) designed to power infotainment systems. This technology can be used by car manufacturers and suppliers to build an infotainment system around it. However, it is a complete operating system and does not require any companion device to function. It has its own interface, supports apps through Google Play Store and has many connectivity features, under which the upcoming KTM bike will support eSIM.

KTM's new communication control unit:

The automotive manufacturer has announced a new communication control unit (CCU) in horizontal and vertical versions for its new TFT dashboard, which will first be available on its upcoming premium motorcycles. KTM will also integrate offline maps into the CCU for navigation. It will provide real-time navigation without syncing with the rider's mobile phone. According to the company, the new CCU will have anti-reflex, anti-fingerprint and anti-glare screen coatings to ensure a better experience for the rider.

Dimensions of KTM's new communication control unit:

The new communication control unit introduced by KTM will be available in both horizontal and vertical formats. It measures 8.8 inches in horizontal format and 8 inches in vertical format.
