PAK vs ENG | England crumbles on Day 2 as Sajid Khan’s four-for wrecks the middle order

‌Overnight batters Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan resumed batting after Pakistan’s solid performance the previous day. However, Brydon Carse struck early, dismissing Rizwan for 41. Salman and Aamer Jamal then steadied the innings, adding 38 runs and taking the score to 294/6 in 100 overs. Unfortunately, their partnership was broken when Matthew Potts dismissed Salman in the next over. Sajid Khan also struggled, contributing only two runs as England’s bowlers ramped up their wicket-taking efforts. Nevertheless, Jamal and Noman Ali formed a valuable lower-order partnership, guiding Pakistan to 358/8 at lunch after 117 overs.

After the break, Pakistan’s innings faltered as Jamal was dismissed by Carse immediately after lunch. With Noman’s wicket following soon after, Pakistan was bowled out for 366 runs. Following a brief 10-minute break, England opened their innings with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley. The duo adopted an aggressive approach, swiftly reaching 69/0 in 10 overs. However, Noman’s beautiful delivery removed Crawley, who returned to the pavilion after scoring just 27 runs. With Ollie Pope joining Duckett who scored a half-ton, England reached 88/1 in 17 overs at tea, trailing by 278 runs.

Post-tea, Sajid Khan removed Ollie Pope in the 24th over, bringing in the in-form Joe Root. He and Ben Duckett kept the scoreboard moving, with Duckett displaying great flair. With a mix of boundaries and aggressive strokes, Duckett reached his century in 120 deliveries, pushing the score to 199/2 in 39 overs. However, Root couldn’t capitalize on his start, falling to Sajid in the 42nd over, paving the way for last-match hero Harry Brook. But things quickly unravelled for England as Sajid and Noman Ali wreaked havoc. In a rapid collapse, England lost the key wickets of Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Ben Stokes in quick succession. With Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse now at the crease, England scored 239/6 at stumps, trailing by 127 runs.
