Man wraps snake around neck after being bitten by it, walks into hospital | Video

New Delhi: A man in Bihar’s Bhagalpur was bitten by one of the most venomous snakes in the world — Russell’s Viper. Prakash Mandal was lying down in his house in Barari when the snake bit his hand. Unfazed, Prakash caught the poisonous serpent by its mouth, wrapped it around his neck, and walked into the hospital.

The sight left those in the hospital flabbergasted and scared. They were shocked to see a dhoti-clad man carrying a snake and calling for medical attention. The scene unfolded in the emergency ward of the hospital.

While some couldn’t believe their eyes, some started capturing the entire episode on their mobiles. Everyone was scared to come close to the man holding the snake. They kept a distance from Prakash. In the video, which has gone viral, Prakash was later seen being escorted by a man in the hospital and taken to an unfrequented zone to ensure the safety of those in the hospital. More surprisingly, Prakash lay on the floor after this, holding the reptile tight with his right hand. In another video which has surfaced, Prakash, who was apparently in pain, can be seen lying on a stretcher holding the snake.

Prakash reportedly told the hospital staff: “The snake bit me. This is the same snake that did it. You can use it to find the right treatment.”

When the doctor told him that he can’t treat him if he continues to hold the snake in his hand, Prakash let off the snake. According to reports, the snake was kept in a sack on the hospital premises, and forest officials were notified. Prakash is still under treatment.

Russell’s Viper is an extremely venomous terrestrial snake from the family of Viperidae. It is found in India, Java, Taiwan. It often stays in farmlands and is the major cause of snakebite fatalities.
