Six-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions are one of those rare team who are prepared to retain more than 3 players and lose a sizeable chunk from their Rs 120 crore IPL 2025 mega auction purse. But the big news from the MI camp is that former India T20I captain and ex-skipper of the franchise Rohit Sharma could be retained alongside three other cricketers.

According to a report in Indian Express newspaper, apart from Rohit, current MI captain Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah will be the others to be retained by Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise. According to BCCI regulations, Rs 75 crore can be divided by the teams to retain 5 ‘capped’ players and with Mumbai Indians deciding to retain four players, they will lose Rs 61 crore from this chunk.

This means they will be unable to retain Jharkhand and Team India wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan and will try to bring him back with ‘Right to Match’ (RTM) card during the IPL 2025 mega auction next month.
