New Delhi : During a program related to solar energy in Delhi, New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi has said a big thing about solar energy. He said that to further Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal related to solar energy, under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, solar units have been installed on the rooftops of more than 4 lakh houses in the country to expand solar energy across India. Is going to be done.

Joshi said this in a program organized to give information about the seventh International Solar Alliance (ISA) conference to be held from November 3 to 6 in the national capital. He said in the program, “India is establishing itself as a major unit in global efforts to tackle climate change. We are also working together to achieve our energy targets. In fact, just last week the number of rooftop solar units under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme has reached the 4 lakh mark.”

Representatives of member countries were also involved in this program. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced this scheme in February. It aims to light 1 crore homes by installing solar equipment on rooftops and providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

More than 1.28 crore registrations

Joshi had said in July that more than 1.28 crore registrations have been made under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The government is trying to take all possible steps to achieve the target of installing rooftop solar devices for 1 crore beneficiaries as soon as possible.

He said that about 17.44 gigawatt solar photovoltaic capacity has been added between January and September this year. According to official data, the installed power generation capacity in the country as of September was 452.69 GW. The share of renewable energy in this was 201.46 GW.
