Apart from Solah Shringaar, the special thing of this day is the different recipes prepared during dinner. Yes, urad dal is definitely prepared on this day in Punjab. -2 cups whole urad dal

8 cups water

-2 teaspoons Shahi Jeera

-1 teaspoon Kasturi Methi

-2 cups tomato puree

-1 teaspoon red chilli

-1 teaspoon sugar

-2 tbsp salt

-1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger

-2 tbsp butter

-1 tbsp oil

-1 ½ cup cream

-Chopped green chillies: First of all add water, one tablespoon salt and ginger to the lentils and boil them. Now heat butter in a heavy bottom pan, add cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds and crunch. Then add tomato puree, remaining salt, chilli and sugar in the pan and fry well until the oil starts separating from the spices. Now put the cooked dal in the pan and mix it well with the spices. Please note that the distance should not be too wide or too thin. Then let the lentils cook on low flame without covering. Before serving, pour cream over the dal and garnish with green chillies.
