A young man was killed in violence between two groups in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. Many rumors were spread on social media regarding the death of the youth. Misleading information was also given regarding the post mortem report of the deceased youth. Calling all these as false, the police have appealed not to pay attention to the rumours. Additional Superintendent of Police, Rural, Dr. Pavitra Mohan Tripathi has appealed not to spread misleading information.

Bahraich Police has appealed and said that regarding the murder of a Hindu person in Kasba Maharajganj police station Hardi district Bahraich, misleading information is being spread on social media with the aim of disturbing the communal harmony like electrocuting the deceased, killing him with a sword and pulling out nails etc. are being spread, in which there is no truth.

The young man died due to bullet injury – police

According to the police, ‘In the post-mortem, the cause of death has been found to be due to bullet injury. Apart from one person, no one else has died in this incident. Everyone is requested not to pay attention to rumors and spread misleading information to maintain communal harmony. The district administration has restored the internet in Bahraich from Wednesday night, which was closed since the day of violence.

The police have also arrested an accused. So far 10 cases have been registered. Among these, a case has been filed on behalf of the family members of deceased Ram Gopal. Three cases have been filed by another group regarding arson, vandalism and assault. So far 54 people have been arrested.

Violence took place on Sunday, the mob did vandalism and arson

On Sunday, two groups clashed over the alleged song being played on the DJ during the Durga Visarjan Yatra in Maharajganj town of Mahsi tehsil, 30 km from Bahraich. Youth Ram Gopal Mishra died in the violence. One of his videos also went viral, in which he is seen plucking the flag of another religion from a rooftop. The police had lathicharged to remove the people who were committing violence.

Thousands of people gathered for the last rites of Ram Gopal on Monday. They had sticks in their hands. The mob carried out vandalism and arson, targeting shops, houses and vehicles of other communities. Houses in villages were also targeted by the mob. ADG and STF Chief Amitabh Yash had entered the field to control the situation.
