Former player puts Yashasvi Jaiswal’s place under the scanner for BGT against Australia, highlighting his failures in South Africa

Yashasvi Jaiswal plays a fearless brand of cricket in the international arena. He has been sensational for India in Test cricket since making his debut against the West Indies. In 11 Tests, he has scored 1217 runs at an average of 64.05. The southpaw has already slammed three hundreds – 171, 209 and 214, which shows his liking for big scores.

However, his performance in South Africa was mediocre and he amassed just 50 runs in four innings, with a best score of 28.

Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has put his place for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 against Australia under the scanner.

“He has been unstoppable in India but the young batter didn’t do anything in South Africa. All eyes will be on him during India’s tour of Australia. When you score runs at home, you are expected to repeat the same kind of a performance in overseas matches,” Patel said on Colors Cineplex.

However, Patel was impressed with the way Jaiswal batted against Bangladesh.

“We have seen improvement in his batting especially the way he handled the short ball against Bangladesh. He played the short ball well,” he added.

Parthiv feels Yashasvi will improve his Test numbers even more when he plays in Australia next month.

“He is understands the conditions and knows when to hit and when to defend. He has all the talent in the world. He will get five Tests in Australia and there is a need for him to better his numbers. He has scored 1200 runs, so the expectations will be there,” he concluded.
