'It's Raining Ducks in Chinnaswamy': Netizens Left Shellshocked After India Collapses For Abysmal 46 Runs vs New Zealand

Today will be a day for the nation to forget, as the India was left stunned by visitors New Zealand, who uprooted the entire batting order of the hosts for a historic (in the worst sense) 46 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first after winning the toss turned out to be a nightmare for the hosts, who lost six batters for 34 runs in the first session, as the remaining four batters managed to add just another 12 runs to the team’s total.

India’s embarrassing total of 46 runs is the team’s lowest innings total at home, and their third-lowest total ever in Tests.

Pacers Matt Henry and William O’Rourke unleashed bedlam on the rainy Chinnaswamy pitch, as they tore through the Indian batters with utmost ease in just a little over 31 overs.

O’Rourke recorded a lethal four-fer (4/22) while Henry registered a magical five-for (5/15) to also reach 100 international Test wickets.

India’s abysmal outing was not received well by fans and followers all over, who took to social media lashing out in frustration and disbelief of what has just unfolded in Bengaluru.

Cricket Australia themselves took a cheeky dig at the Indian team, highlighting India’s worst Test total of 36, and asking whether ’46 is the new 36′.

A handful of users highlighted the need for India to recall their Test cricket veterans Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, who were both left out of consideration for the series against New Zealand and Bangladesh earlier.

Others also brought up the hypocrisy that exists within certain circles who lambasted the Indian Women’s Cricket team for their exit from the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, reinstating that the Men’s team need to be subjected to the same unfair criticism that the Women’s team endures in times of loss.

The onus now falls completely on the Indian bowling attack, spearheaded by the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and spin wizard R Ashwin, to keep India in the fight.
