Singapore stands as the sole representative from Southeast Asia in a list of the world’s top 10 cities for food, as voted by readers of U.S. magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
“This megacity’s food scene is shaped by centuries of Indian, Chinese, and Malaysian migration, where some of the most affordable meals are also the finest,” the magazine noted.

One of the world’s most affordable Michelin-starred meals can be found at Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodles, where diners can enjoy minced pork noodles for around US$5, according to the magazine.
In addition, visitors can savor local favorites such as Hainanese chicken rice (poached chicken with fragrant rice), chili crab, and roti prata (Indian flatbread) at Chinatown and other food courts across the city-state.

Japan’s Kyoto topped the list, followed by Tokyo and Lima of Peru.
More than 575,000 readers participated in the survey, sharing their travel experiences across cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, spas, and airlines.
The Readers’ Choice Awards, the longest-running honors in the travel industry, celebrate excellence in hotels, resorts, and destinations worldwide.
Despite being recognized by other international food magazines for their cuisine, cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, as well as Bangkok of Thailand, did not make the list.
