Under Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, “Har Ghar Jal” reached Gram Panchayat Salora, villagers got relief from drinking water crisis…

** Korba / There is an atmosphere of happiness among the villagers due to water reaching every house under the ambitious scheme Jal Jeevan Mission of the Central and State Government. Villagers no longer have to go out to get drinking water. They are getting drinking water through tap tap at their home itself. Arrangements for water to every house have been made under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Gram Panchayat Salora (A) of Katghora development block of the district headquarters. Due to the availability of tap connection in every house and regular availability of tap water, the villagers have got relief from the drinking water crisis in the village. Under the scheme, 212 domestic tap connections have been provided by the District Water and Sanitation Mission in the village by completing retrofitting work at a cost of Rs 33.27 lakh. The female beneficiaries of the village, Sankutala Dande and Meena expressed happiness over getting the benefit of the Har Ghar Jal Yojana. That now they are getting drinking water at home.

Earlier, they had to fetch water for drinking, domestic needs and disposal from hand pumps installed in the village. This caused a lot of problems during rainy and cold weather. Besides, it also required more hard work and time. Now this problem has been solved with Jal Jeevan Mission. Women are saving time by having drinking water available at home. Due to which they are able to complete other household work at that time. There has been active participation of the village Sarpanch and villagers in the successful implementation of the scheme. After the completion of the construction work of the scheme, a Gram Sabha was organized on 16 October 2024 and the “Har Ghar Jal” festival was celebrated in the presence of the villagers. Also, the scheme was transferred to the Gram Panchayat and the villagers were made aware regarding cleanliness and proper use of water.
