Indian President Draupadi Murmu on visit to Malawi from today

Indian President, who completed the first phase of her state visit to three African countries, Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi, reached Mauritius yesterday on the second phase. President Draupadi Murmu exchanged MoU between India and Mauritania in the presence of President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Ghazouani. . He also met the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and held delegation level talks. Mauritania's Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug also met President Draupadi Murmu. Indian President Murmu will reach Malawi today on the third and last leg of her visit.

President Murmu will be visiting Malawi from 17 to 19 October at the invitation of Malawi President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera. During this visit, President Murmu will hold bilateral meetings with the leadership of Malawi. Will meet prominent business and industry leaders and the Indian diaspora. She will visit places of cultural and historical importance. The visit will further strengthen India's existing friendly and cordial relations with Malawi.


President Murmu expressed his gratitude to the Government of Mauritius and its citizens for supporting the Indian community. He said that India is moving rapidly towards its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. India can contribute to the development journey of Mauritania through human resource development, infrastructure, construction, agriculture, health, education, skill development and digital innovation. He said that there are many similarities between the culture of Mauritius and India. Like clothing, especially women's clothing.
