New Delhi : A day after taking oath as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah He chaired his first cabinet meeting on Thursday and discussed his priorities. Giving information, departmental officials said that the cabinet meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, a delegation led by Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary met CM Omar Abdullah at his residence in Gupkar on Thursday morning. Also, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference gave information about this meeting in a post on X. Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Political Advisor to CM, Nasir Aslam Wani and PL Jammu Ratan Lal Gupta were also present on the occasion.

Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday that the aim of his government is to serve the people and not cause inconvenience to them. Omar Abdullah, in his first post on X after taking oath as Chief Minister, said, “I have spoken to the DG of Jammu and Kashmir Police that there should be no “green corridor” or traffic blockage when I go anywhere by road. I have instructed them to minimize the inconvenience caused to the people and to minimize the use of sirens…to completely avoid any kind of waving of sticks or aggressive gestures. I am asking my cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. Our conduct in everything should be favorable to the people. We are here to serve the people, not to inconvenience them.”

Omar Abdullah had previously been the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in 2009 and 2014. Omar Abdullah, who leads the National Conference-led government in the state, is supported by other Indian coalition parties and four independents. NC-Congress alliance won majority in the assembly elections.

BJP performed brilliantly by winning 29 seats. The People's Democratic Party won three seats, while the People's Conference, CPI-M and AAP won one seat each. Independent candidates also won seven seats.
