Death toll due to poisonous liquor reaches 27 in Bihar, police station officer-watchman suspended

Patna: The outbreak of poisonous liquor is being seen once again in Bihar. So far, 27 people have died due to poisonous liquor in Siwan and Saran of the state. According to the information received, 23 people have died in Siwan while 4 people have died in Saran so far. Along with this, many people have lost their eyesight.

Taking action in this matter, Bhagwanpur police station in-charge and two watchmen have been suspended. All those who have died or are undergoing treatment in the hospital had purchased liquor from Bhagwanpur Haat market. According to the information received, more than 40 people are undergoing treatment in the hospital, most of them have lost their eyesight, many have been referred to Patna.
Earlier in December 2022, 71 people had died due to poisonous liquor, out of which 44 people were from Masrak police station area.

Shailesh Sah, who was being treated at Siwan Sadar Hospital for drinking poisonous liquor, told that he had gone to sell fish. Had bought liquor there and drank it. After which suddenly darkness started appearing around his eyes and he started having stomach pain. After which he was brought to the hospital. Whereas Dinesh Gond told that he had bought liquor for Rs 50 from Maghar village and drank it. After that he started complaining of stomach pain and loss of vision.
