Che Thai (Thai-style sweet soup), a popular Vietnamese dessert, has been ranked as one of the top nine dishes with durian, according to readers of the international food magazine TasteAtlas.

This dessert, a blend of canned fruits like lychee, jackfruit, longan, red water chestnuts, along with coconut milk and pandan-flavored jelly, secured fourth place on the list with a rating of 3.8 out of 5.

The highlight of this sweet soup is its durian component, often called the “king of fruit” in Southeast Asia, renowned for its distinctive flavor and aroma.

A serving of the soup in Ho Chi Minh City costs between VND25,000 and 35,000 (US$1-140), depending on the toppings.

The dessert is often enjoyed with ice for extra refreshment.

Other dishes on the list include Indonesia’s Fried food (deep-fried snacks), lodeh vegetables (a traditional Indonesian vegetable stew in coconut milk), and Malaysia’s Durian glutinous ricemade from durian flesh, glutinous rice, coconut milk, salt, sugar, and pandan leaves.

TasteAtlas rankings are based on audience ratings, utilizing mechanisms to verify legitimate users and filter out biased, bot, or patriotic votes. Users recognized by the system as knowledgeable are given additional weight in the rankings.

For the durian dish list, 656,975 ratings were submitted, of which 466,025 were deemed legitimate. While these rankings are not definitive global conclusions, they aim to celebrate local dishes and traditional foods.
