Later he also worked as a clerk in a government office in Punjab, from where he got Rs 600 every month. After this he decided to leave his job and take up acting. He studied from NSD and then came to Mumbai. It took him 13 years to become successful in the industry. Om Puri has done films like Aakrosh, Maachis, Tamas, Droh Kaal, Ardh Satya, Ghaat, Gupt.
