1st Test: Captain Rohit Sharma spoke about Rishabh Pant’s injury, said- it is critical at this time

Giving an update on Pant’s injury, captain Rohit said, “Unfortunately, the ball hit him directly on his knee cap, the same leg on which he has undergone surgery. So he has got a little swelling on that. It is delicate at the moment.” So this is a precautionary measure. That’s why he left the field, he may be fine.”

Rishabh suffered a serious knee injury on the second day of the ongoing Test against New Zealand. Pant injured his knee trying to catch a ball in the 37th over and immediately fell to the ground, with India’s physios running onto the field to attend to him. He was seen in a lot of pain and was taken off the field, while Dhruv Jurel was seen keeping for the team for the rest of the day.

India won the toss and batted first on the second day of the first Test match being played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru but were all out for 46 runs in 31.2 overs. Rishabh Pant scored the maximum 20 runs in the first innings for India. Nine players of the team could not reach double figures, out of which five players were out on 0. For the Kiwi team, Matt Henry took 5 wickets, William O’Rourke took 4 wickets and Tim Southee took 1 wicket. By the end of the second day, New Zealand had scored 180 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in the first innings. With this they have taken a lead of 134 runs in the first innings.
