BCCI gave update on Rishabh Pant's injury, he will not be able to keep wickets in the test against New Zealand.

Bengaluru: The three-match Test series between India and New Zealand has started. The first day of this test was washed away in the rain. Due to this the competition started on the second day. While playing against New Zealand the other day, Rishabh Pant suffered a leg injury, due to which he had to leave the field.

After this, news came out today that Rishabh Pant will not be able to keep wickets on the third day of the first Test match against New Zealand due to a knee injury on the second day. The Indian team management gave this information on Friday, shortly before the start of play on the third day of the match.

BCCI is monitoring

The statement issued by the team management said, “Rishabh Pant will not do wicketkeeping on the third day of the match. The BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) medical team is monitoring his progress. ,

Rishabh Pant could not catch the ball of Ravindra Jadeja in the 37th over of New Zealand's first innings which hit his knee. He soon limped off the field and was replaced by Dhruv Jurel.

Rohit Sharma said the team will not take risk

The ball hit the knee of his left leg, which had undergone multiple surgeries after a car accident in 2022. This made the injury look serious. Indian captain Rohit Sharma had told after the end of the second day's play that Pant's knee has swollen but the injury is not serious.

Rohit Sharma said

Rohit told the press conference, “Unfortunately the ball hit his knee directly, the same leg on which he has undergone surgery. That's why there is some swelling in his knee. ,

“This is a precautionary measure,” he said. We don't want to take any risk. Rishabh does not want to take the risk as he has undergone major surgery on that leg. ,
