There is a tussle between Selja and Hooda regarding the leader of opposition in Haryana Congress, the high command sent observers to seek opinion from the MLAs.

Chandigarh: Before the assembly elections in Haryana Congress, there was a political battle for the post of Chief Minister. Now after the elections, there is competition among Congress leaders to become the MLA Leader of Opposition. There are two factions in the Congress which is struggling with factionalism in the state. One faction belongs to Kumari Selja and the other faction belongs to Bhupendra Hooda. Kumari Selja wants to make the legislature party leader from her camp by blaming Hooda for Haryana's defeat. Regarding this, the Congress high command has sent observers from Delhi.

Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken and Pratap Bajwa are present as observers in the Congress Legislature Party meeting being held in the capital Chandigarh. In this meeting, after taking opinion from each MLA, the report will be submitted to the party high command. Its top leadership will be chosen by the leader of the legislative party.

Discussion of three names for Leader of Opposition

All Congress MLAs are present in this meeting. Let us tell you that the name of former Deputy CM Chandra Mohan Bishnoi, son of former Chief Minister Chaudhary Bhajan Lal, is running for the leader of the legislative party from Kumari Selja faction. On the other hand, the first name from the Hooda faction is that of Hooda himself and the second name of Ashok Arora. Ashok Arora comes from Punjabi community.

Ellenabad MLA took Hooda's name

Vinesh Phogat, Nirmal Singh, Chandra Mohan Bishnoi left the legislative party meeting midway. When he was talked to about this, he said that we have given our opinion to the observers. During this, Vinesh Phogat did not answer the questions asked regarding the party meeting. Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Ellenabad Bharat Beniwal came out of the meeting and said – I have put forward the name of Bhupendra Singh Hooda for the leader of the legislative party in the meeting.

Will Hooda's one umbrella rule end?

Let us tell you that Bhupendra Singh Hooda is holding this post since 2019. It is said that he has an umbrella rule over Haryana Congress. As an example of this, ticket distribution in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections is cited. After the defeat in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections fought under the leadership of Hooda, the Selja faction is adamant on sidelining Hooda. However, due to this defeat, the top leadership of Congress has also become worried. Due to which speculations are being made that the face of this Leader of Opposition will change.
