Developed an inseparable acquaintance with Shobana

Actor Nithya Menen took to her social media handle to express her joy over winning the National Award for her role Shobana in the Dhanush starrer Thiruchitrambalam.

In her long note, she wrote, “For any actor, a few roles they have performed become an intriguing part of their careers. The soul of such characters tend to be timeless and remain fresh in people’s hearts. So is ‘Shobana’, with whom I have developed an inseparable acquaintance.”

She thanked the producer Kalanithi Maran and director Mithran R Jawahar for giving her the role. She complimented each and every co-star starting from Dhanush, Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, Raashii Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar. She called Dhanush as “fabulous”, thanked Bharathi Raja for “nurturing her character” to give out the performance she gave and hailed Prakash Raj as an “absolute dynamite person”, while thanking Raashii and Priya for being “the best two female co-stars.”

Apart from winning the award in the Best Actress category, Thiruchitrambalam also won Best Choreographers award for Jaani and Satish for ‘Megham Karukatha.’

Thiruchitrambalamwhich stars Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Raashi Khanna, Bharathiraja, and Prakash Raj, is about the titular character, who has a hard time finding love and making up with his father for a past mistake of his that cost the life of his mother. The film opened to largely positive reviews.
