Supreme Court closes habeas corpus petition against Sadhguru Isha Yoga Center News in Hindi: The Supreme Court on Friday (October 18) closed the habeas corpus petition filed by a father alleging that his two daughters were being held at Sadhguru's Coimbatore-based He has been held illegally in Isha Yoga Centre. Behind the petition was a candid statement from two women, currently aged 42 and 39. She had said that she was living in the ashram on her own free will.

While closing the case, the Supreme Court took exception to the Madras High Court directing a police investigation into other allegations against Isha Yoga Center in the habeas corpus petition. A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra said in the order, “Since both of them are adults and the purpose of habeas corpus has been served, no further direction is required from the High Court. “

On the previous date, the Supreme Court had transferred the habeas corpus petition from the Madras High Court to itself.

“The jurisdiction of the Court under Article 226 to deal with Habeas Corpus is well defined and it would be unnecessary for this Court to expand its scope,” the bench said.

“These proceedings should not be to defame people and institutions,” the Chief Justice said orally during the hearing.

Let us tell you that the bench was hearing the challenge of Sadhguru's organization Isha Foundation, which had challenged the order of Madras High Court, in which the police was directed to investigate inside the ashram with 5000 residents. The high court passed the order on a habeas corpus petition filed by a father who alleged that his two daughters were being held illegally at the Isha Yoga Centre.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Isha Foundation, said that as per the status report filed by the Tamil Nadu Police, both the women sadhvis are living there voluntarily. Both the women have also told the court that they are living in the ashram of their own free will. Looking at this matter, Rohatgi said that there is no justification in continuing the habeas corpus petition. He took exception to the High Court directing the police instead of closing the habeas corpus petition.
