Ingredients for making Dal Makhani
-2 cups whole urad dal

-8 cups water

-2 tsp Shahi Jeera

-1 tsp kasturi methi

-2 cups tomato puree

-1 tsp red chilli powder

-1 tsp sugar

-2 tbsp salt

-1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger

-2 tbsp butter

-1 tablespoon oil

-1 ½ cup cream

-Chopped green chillies to garnish

How to make Dal Makhani
To make Dal Makhani, first add water, one tablespoon salt and ginger to the lentils and keep them to boil. Now heat butter in a thick bottom pan, add Shahi cumin, Kasturi Methi and crackle it. After this, add tomato puree, remaining salt, chilli and sugar in the pan and fry well until the oil starts separating from the spices. Now add boiled dal in the pan and mix the dal well with the spices. Keep in mind that the dal should neither be too thick nor too thin. After this, keep the dal on low flame without covering it. Before serving, pour cream over the dal and serve garnished with green chillies.
