Delicious but deadly! 38% Indians are filling their stomach by eating packaged food, know its dangerous side effects

In today's busy life, people are getting less time and more convenient options for food. In such a situation, the demand for packaged food and snacks has increased rapidly. According to a recent report, 38% of people in India consume unhealthy foods like packaged, salty and oily snacks to satisfy their hunger. These shocking figures have come to light in the 'Global Food Policy Report 2024: Healthy Diet and Nutrition' released by the American International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

According to the report, 16.6% of the population in India is suffering from malnutrition, the main reason for which is poor eating habits. 4 out of 10 Indians eat unhealthy packaged food, while only 2 consume the recommended 5 food groups. These include starchy foods, micronutrient-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, beans and nuts.

High in sugar, fat and sodium
Packaged foods and snacks are often high in sugar, fat and sodium. These ingredients are tasty, but can be harmful to the body. Consuming it in excess can increase the risk of serious diseases like obesity, heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

What is the expert's opinion?
Experts say that packaged foods contain less nutrients, whereas fresh fruits, vegetables and natural foods provide the body with essential vitamins, minerals and fiber, which are essential for a healthy lifestyle. Packaged snacks can also cause people to suffer from micronutrient deficiencies like iron, zinc and vitamins.

It has become clear from this report that people are compromising their health to save time and taste. It is very important to include fresh and nutritious things in our diet at the right time, so that we can stay away from these serious diseases and live a healthy life.
