The line-up of the semi-final matches of the fourth Hockey India Senior Women Inter-Departmental National Championship 2024 has been decided. After quarter-final matches full of excitement and thrill, Indian Oil, Railways (RSPB), CBDT and Sports Authority of India (SAI) made it to the semi-finals.
In the first quarter-final, Sports Authority of India (SAI) achieved a resounding 8-0 victory against Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). In the second quarter-final, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) defeated Union Bank of India 4-2. Jaspreet Kaur played an important role in the victory of CBDT and scored two goals and took her team to the semi-finals.
In another one-sided match, Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) defeated Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 11-0. Last year’s runner-up Railway team won on the basis of 2 goals each from Niha, Sangeeta Kumari and Vandana Kataria. In this way, Railways has scored the maximum 36 goals in the tournament.
At the same time, last year’s champion Indian Oil showed a brilliant game and defeated Tamil Nadu Police in the last quarter-final. IndianOil’s star players performed brilliantly in every department and comfortably took their team to the semi-finals. Now in the semi-final matches to be held on Sunday, SAI will face Railways and Indian Oil will face CBDT.
Indian women’s hockey team’s new head coach Harendra Singh and chief selector M. Somaiya closely inspected all the quarter-final matches. The two were seen taking notes on the players’ performances, making it clear that the tournament is becoming an important platform for scouting future national team players.
