This decision has been taken despite the poor performance under Pandya's captaincy last season, where the team finished at the bottom of the points table by winning only four out of 14 matches. However, Pandya will remain the captain and Suryakumar will continue to play under his captaincy. He has recently been made the regular captain of the Indian T20 team.

According to the report of Indian Express, MI will enter the field for IPL 2025 with its four key Indian players. On the other hand, despite Suryakumar being made the T20I captain of India, the captaincy in Mumbai Indians will not change.
