Flights operated by Vistara have been given the code 'AI2'.

The merger of the two full-service carriers is set to be completed on November 12, following which Singapore Airlines will hold a 25.1 per cent stake in the new units. Vistara is a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. Post-merger, the vintage 'Maharaja' will be retained through the 'Frequent Flyer' program of the integrated entity. “Existing Club Vistara members will be transferred to Air India's 'Flying Returns' programme,” Air India said in a statement. With this merger, ‘Flying Returns’ will also transform into a new avatar ‘Maharaja Club’.”

Travelers will get help

Reiterating that the experience provided by Vistara to passengers will remain the same even after the merger, Air India said that Vistara will be identified by 1 special 4-digit Air India code starting with the digit '2'. “For example, 'UK 955' will become AI 2955 after November 12, which will help travelers identify them at the time of booking,” the statement said.

Facing some service related problems

Furthermore, it said that the routes and time tables operated by Vistara aircraft will remain the same. Also, the in-flight experience of the airline will also remain the same.
