Remembering Saleem Nasir on his 35th death anniversary

Karachi: Today is the 35th anniversary of the passing of the Presidential Award-winning actor Saleem Nasir.

Saleem Nasir, who gained recognition for his remarkable roles in dramas such as Jangloos, Aangan Terha, and Akhri Chattan, captivated television viewers with his effortless acting.

Saleem Nasir, who was born on November 15, 1944, made a name for himself as a talented actor during his acting career.

Prior to being well-known on television, he was involved in the publishing of two entertainment publications and had a brief career in the public sector, which he quit to follow his acting dreams.

Even though he had roles in a number of other dramas early in his career, it was the drama Aangan Terha—in which he portrayed the legendary Akbar—that made him incredibly famous as a household servant.

Saleem Nasir also starred in popular dramas like Safaid Saya, Jhok Siyal, Zanjeerein, Jazeera, Dastak, Ankahi, Akhri Chattan, Jangloos, Bandish, and Nishan-e-Haider (Captain Sarwar Shaheed).

His portrayal of Sultan Jalaluddin Khwarazm Shah in Akhri Chattan remains unforgettable.

In addition to his television career, Saleem Nasir also appeared in 10 films, including one Punjabi film.

On October 19, 1989, Saleem Nasir suffered a fatal heart attack.

In recognition of his artistic contributions, he was posthumously awarded the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance a year after his passing.
