I am a big fan, hope I get to work with you

Noted director Mani Ratnam heaped praise on actor Sai Pallavi during the audio launch of Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming much-anticipated film Warning and expressed his desire to work with her.

As he took to the stage, he said, “I am a big fan. I hope I get to work with you one day.” Sai Pallavi responded by saying, “Before coming to cinema, I didn’t know the names of many directors. But Mani Ratnam is one name I have always known. He is one of the reasons I am choosy about scripts and roles.”

During the same event, the Ponniyin Selvan director spoke highly about Sivakarthikeyan as well. He said, “While some actors become big heroes after their first debut, some climb up to success step by step. You are part of the latter, you are like me.”

Warning is directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. The film tells the story of late army officer Major Mukund Varadarajan. The story is based on Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh’s book India’s Most Fearless.

Major Mukund Varadarajan was a commissioned officer in the Indian Army’s Rajput Regiment. Mukund Varadarajan was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his act of bravery during a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.

The technical crew also includes cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan, and stunt director Stefan Richter. Warning is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International along with Sony Pictures International Productions. Upon release on October 31, the film will clash with Jayam Ravi’s Brother and Kavin’s Bloody Beggar.

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam recently wrapped the shoot of Thug Life. He co-wrote the script with Kamal Haasan. It is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. The film stars Haasan, alongside Silambarasan, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Ashok Selvan, Nassar, Trisha, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others.
